Well, you’re in luck, today we’ll be talking about how to increase your search rankings on the web with keyword research.
So you’re probably wondering what is keyword research? Keyword research is when you think about different words or phrases you want to be found on Google. These are words like a health coach, an accountant in DC, or how to create a brand style guide. These keyword phrases are phrases that relate to your business or you.
Here are 5 steps to begin your keyword research and improve search rankings.
1. Write down at least 30 keywords or keyword phrases you want to be found on Google on a piece of paper or in Excel
2. Go to Google Keyword Planner
3. Click on Get Search Volume and Forecast
4. Enter your keyword phrases, separated by commas or on separate lines
5. Click Download > Plan Historical Metrics
Once you have your keyword research downloaded take a look at the average monthly searches in your report. Words that have 0 average monthly searches, you should not be optimizing your website for.
Words that high monthly searches make sure to include them in your copywriting on the site, and blog posts, and you can use plugins like Yoast SEO for WordPress to optimize each page. After a consistent effort for a few months, you should see your position on Google begin to improve.
